Like the new board? We finally got rid of those circle things, added the final book model, and got some props on the board! The little coin purse has subtle cloth physics (as if there’s a constant slight wind).

Since the last devblog, we’ve added more skills, status effects, and a few new cards! Read more for this content-packed update.

The Spider Queen - a near-goddess of the forest she resides in. Any wandering spirits that happen upon her always end up in her web.

Yo! I’ve been hard at work on Forgotten Lore, as usual. The last two weeks especially. We’re nearing release of the pre-alpha. When we’re ready to go on that I’ll be doing a giveaway on my twitter and a few other places to give out about 100 free pre-alpha Steam keys, for helping debug certain aspects of the game as they are released, before the game goes into Early Access.

If you’re interested in doing that sort of thing, please follow me on twitter and keep and eye out for any posts related to it. But before we get there, let me tell you about the cool stuff I’ve been working on.

Hey guys! After being distracted by Pokemon Omega Ruby and playing a bunch of Banished, I finally managed to get some stuff done. Not a lot to visually show, but a lot to talk about!

Me and my server-bro John have been working on a GO implementation for the server, to run on a distributed network, with a distributed database. Sure, it’s a little overkill for the current scope of the project, but better safe than sorry!

A

Yes.

Progress on the Unity rewrite of the game. Let’s call this..

Devblog 12

So far I have basic AI implemented in the rewrite.  You can attack cards directly and attack players’ hp directly. Turned based stuff is in, and I have a system for special moves and passives. I even got the first special move, spitfire, implemented.

I’ve been working on Steam implementation as well. I have a c# wrapper setup so I can access the c Steam API, and I have a few things working like fetching the Steam name, ID, friends lists, etc. I also have the client communicating with Steam to get an authentication session ticket to pass to my server. Speaking of which, the server is written in GO Lang. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s pretty neat and you should check it out.

So, the GO server is talking with the Steam publisher web API so we can verify authentication tickets and whatnot. Login and other stuff will be implemented pretty soon.

All and all I’m thinking this rewrite was an excellent idea and I can’t wait to get even deeper into it. I’m loving Unity and am becoming a fan of C#, so everything is going nicely, even if there are still some bugs here and there

I’ve been working on this flame effect for Forgotten Lore, I think it’s turning out pretty nice.

Another dark theme’d wallpaper, this time of the Kraken; from Forgotten Lore!

Skelebros wallpaper, perfect for a dark theme’d desktop.

The great Turtle, from Forgotten Lore. This guy is HUGE. See the little guys on his back? Good luck taking him down in one blow.
